Big Joy Ministries is a brand new kind of ministry and in many ways it’s “more than a ministry.” It’s a way of life — a certain way of being and doing in the world… a way based on God is Love as well as having, sharing, and enjoying the fruits of the spirit.
Although it was founded in 2015, it has been a work in progress and in process over many years in various other forms. Evidently, God was working the whole time to get us to this point where we are today. Welcome to our brand new beginning!
We are called to do ministry in a different way than other ministries and while we know that each ministry on this earth is god-inspired, ours is also God-inspired no matter how different it may look, sound, or feel to others who are, shall we say, used to the “old ways” of what many people think church is supposed to look like and be like. We are well aware of (and agree with) what scripture tells us about that in 1 Corinthians 1:27…
1 Corinthians 1:27 (NIV)
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
We do not believe for one second that “ministry” or “church” is meant to be confined to some building, or to one or more hours of one or more days of the week, or to any one particular “preacher” or “teacher” or “dogma” or even to one particular kind of “brand” of spirituality or religion or set of rituals, beliefs, politics, philosophies, cultures, ways of life, or books. We believe the Truth is One about God is Love and about Sharing Wisdom & Loving People because the paths are many.
For example, if you’re a doctor then your medical practice is your ministry. If you’re an artist, then doing your art is your ministry. If you’re a teacher, then teaching is your ministry. If you’re a parent, parenting is your ministry. If you’re a financial services expert, then that’s your ministry. If you’re a singer, dancer, actor, performer, producer, director, composer, etc. then showbiz is definitely your ministry!
No matter what your talents, gifts, skills, knowledge, and experience are, when those are in alignment with who you were born to be, then what you were born to do will be your ministry and that’s when you will be able to “have and enjoy your life in abundance, to the full, until it overflows.” (John 10:10). We show people how to do that in our Big Joy Ministries workshop called The Resonance Experience. It is truly life-changing (in a good way) and has the potential to change every area of your life for the better.
God gives each of us talents and gifts as well as the power to shine using those talents and gifts to glorify God (Love). Simple! The form your gift takes in terms of your ministry doesn’t matter — God can use anyone for anything AND not everyone is supposed to manifest as a nun or a priest or have a “traditional church” as their form of ministry. That’s why the content of your gift is everything! If you love numbers and working with ledgers and finance and you have a knack for accounting and you enjoy it, then welcome to your ministry! It doesn’t matter what the form of your ministry is, but rather why you’re doing it. And we believe God will give you all the desires of your heart when your ministry is something that gives you and other people BIG JOY.
The truth of the matter is that God has called us, too, to be as wonderfully unique and different as every single one of his own children — just as God has called us to have a wonderfully unique and different ministry, too. We are called to be who we were born to be, to do what we were born to do, and that is to be all of who we really are, as God created us to be. We were not called to be and do as other ministries because God has a plan for us, too, and we are enjoying working with God on that plan for our ministry. We know in our heart that “the Truth is One and the paths are many” — and we are but one path among many paths teaching, ministering, preaching, walking and talking, living and breathing, and enjoying Love, Joy, Peace, and the fruits of the spirit.
We believe we are born to be loving companions of each other rather than fearful combatants. We believe we are born to love one another, not fear one another. We believe we are born to become more conscious, competent, and intelligent as individuals and not more unconscious, incompetent, and ignorant. We believe we are born to live our own individual and collective lives not just as mere seekers of truth (as in “seek but do not find”) but also as people who are living it, loving it, doing it. We believe it is not enough to want to seek for love but to take practical action in removing all the barriers against being able to actualize love so that we may, as individuals and societies, enjoy living it, loving it, doing it. We believe we are called to live life “enjoying while creating” instead of “suffering while destroying.”
Our focus is inspired by “God is Love” and the teachings and actions of Jesus as well as other spiritual masters and teachers throughout time — masters and teachers who walked and talked “God is Love” as well as the fruits of the spirit, even though their jargon or their rituals might be worded or performed differently than traditional Christian words and deeds. We do not believe that jargon or rituals or dogma or politics or money should get in the way of the Truth that God is Love — and for anything or anyone who tries to make idols of jargon, ritual, or dogma or anything or anyone and thus put those before “God is Love” we simply disagree with that. That is not a condemnation but merely a communication, it is not a judgment but a discernment. We realize that we may not be for just anyone, but we are for everyone since Love is for everyone, everywhere, at all times, no exceptions.
We believe God’s Love and Wisdom can be found in many places and not just in the bible, itself, or traditional churches, ministries, temples, synagogues, or other religious organizations, buildings, scriptures, or books, audios, videos, broadcasts, or events and conferences. So while we believe those also have a part to play in God’s plan, God has called us to also consider and learn about how sharing wisdom and loving people looks with other paths, teachers, spiritual masters, stories, countries, philosophies, history, science, or everyday common sense facts to further examine, study, enjoy, and learn about how “God is working” in us and through us, in you and through you, and in and through this world we all share as one humanity.
